The castle tower is a landmark of the town and a symbol of its artistic beauty. It was built in the 13th century and rebuilt in the Renaissance style around 1580 by Balthasar Maggi d’Arogno.
Its façade was decorated with paintings by Bartoloměj Beránek-Jelínek. In 1993 the tower was renovated and its painted decorations, which were preserved in mere fragments, were partially reconstructed. Inside the tower, visitors can see, among other things, the dungeon, the Renaissance tower model, the bells from 1406, 1460 and 1671, and enjoy the matchless view of the town and its surroundings from the arcade gallery.
